Cornell’s Legal Information Institute (”LII”) has posted its Highlights of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2007-08 Term here. LII does a fantastic job throughout every term of posting previews and then links to opinions as they come out, and for many years has been my source for contemporaneous information on the Court.
In the highlights post, LII notes that only 17% of the Court’s cases were decided on 5-4 splits this term, while 18% were unanimous decisions, and also notes that there were a number of ideology-defying alignments among the Justices. LII then breaks down the Court’s decisions by subject matter to provide a nice encapsulation of the term.
